The Countryside Restoration Trust: Margaret Wood

Location

Margaret Wood is situated in South Yorkshire on the border with West Yorkshire at Upper Denby.

If traveling from the MI motorway leave at Junction 37 and take the A628 towards Manchester. After about 5 miles (8km) at the roundabout take right turn on the A629 towards Huddersfield. After about 1.5 miles you enter Ingbirchworth. Travel through it and as you leave the village turn right on the B6115 towards Upper Denby. Enter the village and drive through until you reach the red telephone kiosk and letter box on your right. Turn right on Gunthwaite Lane. The entrance is down a track which is on the right 100 yards from the junction you then go through a 'red' metal gate and then turn left through another metal gate.  If the gates are open but there is no one at the barn we will be down in the wood.  Please come and find us.

It is also possible to travel by public transport using the train that runs between Sheffield Barnsley and Huddersfield.  There is a bus service that connects with the train and runs from Penistone station to Upper Denby. It currently leaves the station at 0945 1035 and 1150.
